Juneteenth Opal Lee Walk

Please walk with us to honor Opal Lee who was the driving force to make Juneteenth a recognized holiday. We will walk from the Lynnfield Middle School to the town common as a way to symbolize the 2.5 miles Opal Lee walked every year in her quest to make the Juneteenth holiday a reality. Her 2.5 mile walk represented the two and a half years from  the emancipation proclamation to true freedom for all enslaved people.

There will be speakers, refreshments, children activities, and a story walk to learn about the history of Opal Lee and Juneteenth.

When: Saturday, June 18, 2022
Time: 10:30AM-12PM
Where: The walk will start at the Lynnfield Middle School parking lot and end at the Town Common

Lynnfield for Love would like to thank our sponsor Market Street for helping to make this event possible.
